Japan's retail titans tighten bonds with delivery companies

Some of Japan's largest retail companies are now working more closely with delivery contractors to ensure smooth deliveries to customers, recognizing the lack of drivers could stand in the way of their business growth.

Convenience store operator Seven-Eleven Japan has partnered with Seino Holdings, a package delivery company based in central Japan. Seino created a wholly owned subsidiary to handle deliveries for the Seven & i Holdings unit, with operations going into full swing in May.

　今回は見出しのtitan /tάɪtn/ を調べました。『ジーニアス英和辞典』（第五版，大修館）で調べたところ、「（ギリシャ神話）タイタン」、「巨人」、「傑出した人」や「（土星の第六衛生）タイタン」などと載っておりました。その中に「巨大企業」という意味もございました。Oxford Dictionary of English(Second Edition Reserved, Oxford University Press)には、"a person or thing of very great strength, intellect, or important"と定義されておりました。
　以上から日本の小売り大手企業を指していると考えられます。またtitanとtightenで韻を踏んでいます。(Gomez)
