At a kindergarten operated by Moritomo Gakuen, an Osaka-based educational corporation, children selected to represent their peers on a sports day were made to recite a pledge that could hardly be considered educationally acceptable.
“We hope that China and South Korea, which treat Japan as a villain, will mend their ways and won’t teach lies in history textbooks,” the pupils said in unison.
They also said: “Prime Minister Abe, hang in there,” and, “It is good that the security legislation passed the Diet.”

気になったのは，“fly in the face of”という表現です。この表現は，直訳の通り「〈人・物〉の前を飛ぶ」という意味でも使われることがありますが，今回はこの意味では当てはまりません。
