Japan's pen makers sharpen focus on greater Asia
Competing local products in emerging markets cost around 50 yen. Pilot hopes to appeal to consumers with its own balance of price and quality. It now churns out some 30 million permanent markers a year and aims to more than triple output to 100 million by the end of 2018 with the emerging-market push. It has been making similar efforts at a Gunma Prefecture ballpoint pen plant.

今回取り上げる表現は、churn out /tʃəːn/です。
Oxford Dictionary of English (Second Edition Reserved, Oxford University Press)によると、 “to produce sth quickly and in large amounts”とのことでした。
『ジーニアス英和辞典』(第五版，大修館)で調べたところ、「〈作品など〉を続々と作る，粗製濫造する」と載っておりました。
ちなみに粗製濫造とは、「粗悪な品をむやみにつくること」という意味です。（『デジタル大辞泉』，小学館）
またchurnのみだと、名詞で「攪乳器，大型牛乳かん，不買する人の数」、動詞で「〈水など〉かき乱す，〈胃〉をむかつかせる，〈ミルクなど〉をかき回す，〈バター〉をつくる」などの意味を持ちます。（Gomez）
