Santa Claus made the rounds throughout Japan on Christmas Eve, with a record 2,000 volunteers dressed up as Saint Nick delivering gifts to children, including those affected by the Kumamoto earthquakes.

The Santas spread Christmas cheer far and wide, giving presents to 5,000 children at 1,600 households in Tokyo and 20 other prefectures.

Among the recipients are those living in temporary housing after being forced to evacuate their homes following the series of devastating temblors in Kumamoto Prefecture in April.
