SHANGHAI--Everything about a Chinese-run "onsen" that has just opened near Shanghai has a Japanese feel to it.

The name of the bathing facility, Ooedo-Onsen-Monogatari, as well as the other Japanese touches, are strikingly similar to one located in Tokyo's popular Odaiba area.

However, the Japanese company which operates the Odaiba facility, as well as about 30 other similar outlets around Japan, issued a statement on its website denying any link to the Shanghai facility, which opened Dec. 21.
