Starbucks CEO to step down, focus on innovation
NEW YORK (AP) — Starbucks Chairman Howard Schultz is stepping down as CEO of the coffee chain he joined more than 30 years ago and transformed into a globally known brand.
Schultz will become executive chairman in April to focus on innovation such as high-end shops and social impact activities, the Seattle-based chain announced Thursday. Kevin Johnson, who was named president and chief operating officer last year, will be chief executive as of April 3.

今回取り上げるのは“high-end”です。
LDOCEでは“relating to products or services that are more expensive and of better quality than other products of the same type”と定義されているように「高級な、高性能の、高品質の」という意味があります。
反対語は“low-end”となり、「普及品、低価格販売」となります。
シュルツ氏は退任後、現在シアトルに1号店がある「スタバロースタリー」のような工場型店舗などの高級品に力を入れたいそうです。ちなみに、この「スタバロースタリー」は2018年に4号店を中目黒にオープン予定です。(flyingbird)
