compromise 復習
インドでデビットカードにマルウエア(有害な動作を行うソフトウエアのこと)感染の疑いが出てきたようです。
Millions of Indian debit cards 'compromised' in security breach -
A number of major Indian banks are taking safety measures amid fears that thesecurity of more than 3.2 million debit cards have been compromised.
Some of the affected banks have been asking their customers to change securitycodes. They are also blocking and replacing debit cards.
The breach is thought to have been caused by malware on an ATM network.
Some customers are complaining that large sums of money have been taken from their accounts.

今回取り上げる表現は"compromise"という単語です。「妥協する」という意味でおなじみですがここではどのように用いられているのでしょうか。
『ジーニアス英和辞典』（第５版）には「信用などを危うくする、危険に晒す、感染する」と記されておりOxford Wordpower Dictionary には"to put somethig in a bad or dangerous position"と定義されていました。
したがってここでは「デビットカードが感染する」と解釈できると思いました。
p.s.過去にも同じ表現が取り上げられていました。また先生の著書にも同じく挙がっておりました。(Mt.Fuji)
