先日に引き続きニューヨークでの爆破事件についての記事からです。
容疑者の身元が特定されたとのことですが、武装している可能性が高いため、注意を呼びかけています。
Police on Manhunt for 'Person of Interest' in Manhattan Bombing

Authorities are urgently searching for a "person of interest" in the New York City explosion, identified as 28-year-old Ahmad Khan Rahami, according to a memo circulated by the NYPD.

The FBI also released a wanted poster for Rahami with his photo, saying he is "wanted for questioning" related to the bombing. Rahami is a U.S. citizen originally born in Afghanistan, the FBI said. He is considered armed and dangerous.

The address of a home being searched by FBI agents in Elizabeth, New Jersey is linked to a person with a similar name.

An emergency alert was sent out this morning asking people to call 9-1-1 if Rahami was seen.

記事の中で気になった単語は"manhunt"です。
過去にも取り上げられていますが、『ジーニアス英和辞典』第4版(大修館)で確認してみますと、「(組織的な)犯人(行方不明者)捜査」とありました。

LDOCEでは、"organized search for someone who might have committed a crime, or a prisoner who has escaped"と載っていました。

"search"や"chase"と同じ意味ですが、ここでは、ただの捜査ではなく、大規模な捜査であるため"manhunt"が使われています。(Akim)
