日立製作所が羽田空港でヒト型ロボットの実証実験を開始しました。
Hitachi Ltd. on Friday started a proof-of-concept test of a small humanoid robot, which provides guidance to users including foreigners, at Tokyo International Airport at Haneda.
Two EMIEW3 robots, equipped with artificial intelligence and capable of communicating in Japanese and English, worked together to guide a foreign woman playing the role of a tourist.
Hitachi plans to start the commercial use of the EMIEW3 around 2018, aiming to have the robot serve foreigners visiting Japan with the country’s “omotenashi” hospitality during the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics.
The trial at Haneda is due to continue until around December.
The 90-centimeter-high robots can work in collaboration by sharing guidance duties.
In Friday’s test, Hitachi checked whether the robots can catch the words of the woman amid loud noise in the crowded airport. They succeeded in giving her guidance, but some delays were also observed.
“I think the robots get about 70 points out of 100 today because they might have had some difficulties understanding the language she spoke,” Hitachi Senior Vice President Hiroshi Sato said. “I’d like to see many EMIEW3s providing omotenashi services in 2020.”

今回取り上げるのはhumanoidです。humanとoidに分けて考えると、oidは〜のようなものという意味を表す接尾辞で、humanと合わせて考えると人間のようなものとなりますが、どのような意味になるのでしょうか。『ライトハウス英和辞典』（第5版 研究社）で調べましたが、載っておりませんでした。電子辞書に内蔵されている『ジーニアス英和辞典』（第4版 研究社）には「（ロボットなどが）人間の形をした、人間に似た」とありました。LDOCEでも調べてみますと “having a human shape and qualities” と説明されており、形だけが人間と似ているのではなく、人間のような性質を持っているということがわかります。人間のように言葉を話したり、動いたりするところがこの性質にあたるかと思います。記事内で紹介されているエミュー3は空港内の施設を案内し、接客をしてくれるそうです。（aqua）
