今回取り上げる表現は、“rampage”です。『ウィズダム英和辞典』(第3版、三省堂)を引いたところ、「狂暴に暴れること、暴動、騒乱」とありました。“go [be] on the [a] rampage”で、「暴れ回る[回っている]」となります。

Macmillan Dictionary.comでは、“uncontrolled behaviour, especially when this involves damaging or destroying property over a wide area”と定義されていました。

また、「英辞郎 on the WEB」には“shooting rampage”で「銃乱射(事件)」を意味すると述べられていました。それを踏まえると、今回の“stabbing rampage”で「無差別殺傷(事件)」などと解釈できるのではないでしょうか。(Blue Sky)
