東京〜大阪間を結ぶリニアモーターカーの開通を早める動きがでているようです。
Govt. pushing for earlier start of maglev lines
Central Japan Railway is planning to connect Tokyo and Osaka with super-fast maglev trains, starting in 2045. But government and business people want the new trains sooner.
The government is hoping to speed up the work by offering JR Central low-interest loans from its fiscal investment and loan program. Construction costs will add up to nearly 82 billion dollars.
The program is designed to help private businesses take on large-scale, high-risk projects. It's financed by government bonds.
The government plans to include the loan proposal in its basic economic and fiscal policy. It's seeking Cabinet approval of the policy later this month.
But the government will have to negotiate with JR Central, which wants to finance construction itself.

今回気になった単語はmaglevです。
『ジーニアス英和辞典』（第五版、大修館書店）をひくと「リニア（方式）、リニアモーターカー（方式）、磁気浮上式（列車）」とあり、magnetic levitation (propulsion system)の略であることがわかりました。
Oxford dictionaris.com.でも” A transport system in which trains glide above a track, supported by magnetic repulsion and propelled by a linear motor“と定義されています。
リニアモーターとは円筒状の交流モーターを帯状にし、直線運動をするようにしたもので、
リニアモーターカーは和声英語なので、英語ではmaglev、またはa linear motor trainとなります。
ちなみに、linearはlineの形容詞で「直線状の」の意味があります。
現在、東京から大阪までは新幹線で2時間半〜3時間ほどかかりますが、このリニアモーターカーの開通により、最短67分となるそうです。
