２２日午後４時半ごろ、神戸市の新名神高速道路の工事現場で、建設中の鋼鉄製橋桁が約１２０メートルにわたって約２０メートル下の国道１７６号に落下しました。なお、この事故で２名が亡くなり、８人が重軽傷を負いました。

KOBE (Kyodo) -- Two workers died and eight others were injured Friday when a 113-meter-long, 1,350-ton bridge beam under construction above a national route in Kobe, western Japan, fell to the road about 20 meters below, police and firefighters said.
The two men, both in their 30s, and the eight others were among 30 workers engaged in construction of bridges of the Shin-Meishin Expressway scheduled to be completed by February next year.

今回取り上げる表現は、”bridge beam”です。Weblioで調べたところ、「橋げた」という意味がありました。ご存知の方も多いかもしれませんが、”beam”には「光線」という意味のほか、第２義に「梁、けた、横材」という意味があります（『ウィズダム英和辞典』第３版、三省堂）。
ちなみに、“beam”の語源は木であり、ドイツ語の”Baum”「木」と同語源とされています（goo辞書）。
