Fire in Shinjuku's Golden Gai
A fire has destroyed at least 3 wooden buildings in Shinjuku's Golden Gai, one of Tokyo's most famous traditional drinking districts.
Golden Gai boasts about 300 tiny bars and eateries crammed into a maze of 6 narrow streets, and has become a popular destination for foreign tourists.
The fire broke out in a 2-story bar building on Tuesday afternoon. The Tokyo Fire Department says the fire is nearly out after destroying an area of about 500 square-meters.
Police say a woman in her 60s was taken to hospital, but she is not in serious condition.
Police officers and firefighters are trying to determine the cause of the blaze.
辞書には、「各階の飾り窓に歴史物語(story)を描いたことから」この意味で用いるようになったと記されていました。なので、今回の記事の”a 2-story bar building”で「２階建ての飲み屋」となります。（Blue Sky）
