末期の子宮頸がんに侵されたカントリー歌手のジョーイ・フィークさんに関する記事から英語表現を拾います。
enough is enoughはすでにブログで採り上げられており，そこでは「もうたくさんだ、そこまで言えば(やれば)十分だ(やめにしよう)」（『Wisdom英和辞典』三省堂）という意味で紹介されています。

今回はこれに英英辞書の情報を追加するため，The Concise Oxford Dictionary（10th edition）でこの表現を調べてみました。するとno more will be tolerated. と説明されており，この説明からは，家族のために懸命にそして前向きに生きてきたジョーイさんが死を覚悟したときの様子を伺いしることができます。前回のブログのように苛立ちを表す場面もありますが，今回のように万策つきて現状を受け入れるような場面もあります。（Koyamamoto）
