Man who donated book money to school for decades comes forward before school closure

TSURUOKA, Yamagata -- A man who anonymously donated money every month to an elementary school here for around 40 years so that books could be bought for students has finally revealed himself after learning that the school is scheduled to close next spring.

The man, who met with the school's students on Dec. 4, is Shoji Konno, 68, a former company employee who lives in the city of Sendai.
