Putting Ise-Shima on the Map
Japan's Ise-Shima region is facing an opportunity to draw more international visitors. It's been chosen as the site for the G7 summit in 2016. The move is on to show what it has to offer to people from abroad.
Everywhere you look, there's something to see at Ise-Shima. It's located almost in the middle of the Japanese archipelago. Ancient shrines and temples bear witness to the region's 2,000-year history. Participants in next May's G-7 summit will see for themselves.
"Large and small islands -- the beautiful inlet -- Ise-Shima is blessed with Japan's quintessential natural scenery. I would like the world leaders to experience it firsthand, and enjoy the distinctive beauty of the country's landscape." Shinzo Abe / Japanese Prime Minister
Once the G-7 selection was set, the tourism association embarked on a promotional campaign. The aim is to raise the region's profile as a destination, like the better-known areas of Kyoto or Nara. (以下略)

とりあげる表現は“putting … on the map”です。
LDOCEでは“to make a place famous”と定義されています。ここでは「世の中に知らしめる、発信する」あたりが相応しいでしょうか。(Chris)
