大統領選挙を控えたヒラリークリントン氏が、2012年に起きた在リビア・ベンガジ米領事館襲撃事件についての証言を行いました。責任については受け入れ、これまで同様、自分を擁護する対応をしたということです。
Hillary Rodham Clinton on Thursday began a daylong appearance before the Republican-controlled Benghazi committee in a hearing that is expected to be a highly partisan grilling of the leading Democratic candidate for president.
The testimony will occur after several days of public fighting between Democrats and Republicans over whether the House committee is using the deaths of the Americans to undermine Mrs. Clinton’s presidential bid.
今回は“Benghazi committee”を取り上げます。Benghaziはリビアの都市で、ここで米領事館襲撃事件が起きたことにより、「ベンガジ委員会」が発足されました。この委員会は米国の下院の特別委員会で、ベンガジ事件の調査が行われています。
10時間以上にも及ぶ公聴会でしたが、まだ明らかになっていない情報があり、今後も注目されています。今回はクリントン氏の私的メール問題についても問われたようで事例をあげて説明したとのことですが、この問題は今後も問われ続けることとなると思いました。(lua)
