Swallows push back Giants

Masanori Ishikawa tossed five innings, holding the Giants to a run, and added an RBI single as the Tokyo Yakult Swallows battled past Yomiuri 2-1 at Tokyo Dome to see their magic number for their first league title since 2001 go down to three.
Swallows closer Tony Barnette came on with two down and the tying run on third base in the eighth and shut the door. He put two runners on in the ninth, but struck out Soichiro Tateoka to nail down his 39th save.
