ロンドンのTower Bridgeに違法駐車されていたLamborghini Countachが撤去されました。The Telegraphのトップページにあった見出しのtow awayは「〈乗り物などが〉 (鎖綱などで)〈ほかの乗り物など〉を引っぱる, 牽引（けんいん）する(away)」という意味（『プログレッシブ英和中辞典』小学館）。この他にa tow away zone（レッカー移動対象[駐車禁止]区域）などの形でも使われます。
日本語では「レッカー車」と言うことが多いですが，確かにwreckerにはアメリカ英語で「レッカー車」（『プログレッシブ英和中辞典』同上）という意味があるものの，動詞のwreckは「解体する」という意味で用いられるのが一般的で，違法に駐車された車を撤去する場合は，上記で示したようにtowが用いられるようです。（Koyamamoto）

After blocking one lane of traffic on Tower Bridge for a good part of the day, an abandoned Lamborghini is finally removed
A man has been arrested after a Lamborghini Countach worth £250,000 was abandoned on Tower Bridge on Wednesday night.
The unidentified motorist left the vehicle on the bridge at about 6.30pm after running out of petrol.
After tracing him via his licence plate, police discovered he was wanted on warrant for harassment, and he was arrested in the City of London.
