今回取り上げるのは、中国上海にある食品会社が賞味期限切れの食肉を出荷していたことに関する記事です。日本のマクドナルドはその食肉を使ったチキンマックナゲットを中国の上海福喜食品有限公司から輸入していたため、一部店舗で販売を中止しました。日本国内で使用するチキンマックナゲットの２割をその会社から輸入していたそうです。
記事の中で気になった単語はirregularitiesです。irregularityといえば「不規則」や「変則」がすぐに思いつきますが、『ジーニアス英和辞典(4版，大修館書店)』によると「（遠まわしに）反則、不法（行為）、不品行」という意味がありました。先輩の記事にあったirregularity（末尾参照）も食品問題での用例でした。
今のところ健康被害はないようで幸いですが、同じことを繰り返さぬよう早急に対策を練ってもらいたいものです。（bookmark）
McDonald’s Co. (Japan) said Tuesday the company on Monday stopped selling Chicken McNuggets made by a Chinese food company that is reported to have used chicken meat past expiration dates.
McDonald’s said in a statement released on Tuesday that it had been importing about 20 percent of the Chicken McNuggets it sold in Japan from Shanghai Husi Food Co.
The hamburger chain said the chicken nuggets it currently sells are made by other suppliers. In the statement, the company apologized to customers for causing trouble and inconvenience.
McDonald’s said it stopped orders to Shanghai Husi Food after learning of the reported irregularities and immediately launched fact-finding inquiries into the Chinese company.
