アフガニスタン大統領選挙のやり方が決まりました。Abdullah Abdullah氏とAshraf Ghani氏は,前回行われた選挙で,互いに不正を行っているとして,非難しあっておりました。そこで,アメリカの仲介で協議した結果,選挙の監査を行うということで双方が同意しました。
記事の名で気になった単語は"hammer out"です。『Wisdom英和辞典第三版（三省堂）』によると「照ってきて木に検討して考えだす,議論して合意を打ち出す」などという意味がありました。Oxford Dictionariesによると"Laboriously work out the details of a plan or agreement"という定義でした。金物を叩いて鍛えていくようなニュアンスで使われているのだと思います。（Ume）

Meanwhile, Mr Abdullah said the two sides had reached a "technical and political agreement".
