Germany’s Martin Kaymer Wins His First U.S. Open Golf Championship
Martin Kaymer won the United States Open on Sunday to pull off a feat never accomplished by his countryman and childhood idol, Bernhard Langer.
Kaymer, a wire-to-wire winner, closed with a 69 at Pinehurst No. 2 for a 72-hole total of nine-under-par 271. He finished eight strokes ahead of Erik Compton and Rickie Fowler, who each shot a final-round 72.
