S.Korea hospital fire suspect questioned

South Korean police are questioning an inpatient on suspicion of setting a fire that killed 21 people at a hospital for the elderly. They're also looking into whether there were any problems with the facility's safety measures.



The fire occurred at the hospital in South Jeolla Province early Wednesday. 8 people were also injured.

Police have detained a man in his 80s. They suspect he set fire based on surveillance camera footage.

Following the fatal ferry disaster in April, local authorities conducted safety checks at the facility last week. They found no problems with the fire extinguishers and evacuation routes.
