北海道のとある町の町民を揶揄するような内容を含んだことや、ビートルズのYesterdayの替え歌の版権が問題になったりで、話題（？）を呼んだ村上春樹の９年ぶりの短編集「女のいない男たち」が発売されました。終夜営業の書店にはハルキスト（女性が多数！）が詰めかけたといいます。

Haruki Murakami launches first book of short stories in 9 years

Celebrated novelist Haruki Murakami released his first short-story book in nine years on April 18 as some 40 "Harukists" -- Haruki Murakami adherents -- took part in a countdown ceremony at Kinokuniya bookstore in Tokyo.

The book, titled "Onna no Inai Otokotachi" (Men without women) consists of six short stories including Murakami's newly written story from which the book takes its title. Publisher Bungeishunju is set to print 300,000 copies of the first edition.

Harukist Naoko Watase, 35, who was the first to arrive at the countdown event, says she has read all of Murakami's work. "I haven't read any of the short stories in magazines because I wanted to save my excitement," she said.

標題のsave my excitementは直訳すると「興奮をとっておく」ということでしょうが、インタビューされたこの方は、日本語で「楽しみをあとにとっておく」「楽しみはあとにまわす」などと答えたのではないでしょうか（毎日新聞を見ていないので憶測です）。

「楽しみをあとにまわす」はこのほかに、そのものズバリ、save the best for lastと韻を踏んだリズミカルなものや和英辞書などによくあるsave the fun for laterがあります。

ともあれ早速、わたしもこの短編を読んでみましょう。（UG）
