seniority

文献を読んでいる中で”seniority”が分かりませんでした。「年上」という意味しか知りませんでしたが，『Wisdom英和辞典（第三版）』（三省堂）で調べると「勤続年数」という意味がありました。"senior"の語源が「より老いた」ということから派生していると考えました。ついでに，日本企業が採用する（全ての企業ではないし，従来と比較して減少しているとも言われております）年齢に応じて給料が上昇していくシステムのことを英語で”the seniority system”「年功序列制度」といいます。合わせて覚えます。（Ume）

Stability of Personnel Competence can be measured by the average age, seniority, the relative pay position and the Professional turnover rate for example. The average age allows insight into stability as well as the dynamics of an organization because in comparison with younger professionals the older professionals tend not to leave the company but are having less drive.
