昨日上げた”blast off”に関連するので取り上げます。見出しにある”lift off”をWisdom英和辞典（第三版）』（三省堂）では「（ロケットなどが）打ち上げられる」という意味がありました。”blast”，lift”，”take”などは”off”を付けることで地面から離れて飛び上がるというニュアンスが付くことが整理できました。（Ume）

A Japanese H-IIA rocket with the NASA-Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA), Global Precipitation Measurement (GPM) Core Observatory onboard takes off from launch pad 1 at the Tanegashima Space Center, early Friday morning. The satellite will collect data from an international network of existing and future satellites to map global rainfall and snowfall every three hours.
