Olympics: Japan's Kasai takes silver in large hill

In the first round, Severin Freund of Germany, who finished fourth, took off for 138 meters on a super leap right ahead of Kasai, but the Japanese man who is nicknamed "Kamikaze" and "Legend" was not to be outdone as he cranked it up a notch with a monster jump of 139 meters for 140.6 points.

Only Stoch was better with an eye-popper of 139 meters that earned the Pole 143.4 points to top the leaderboard.

In the final round, Kasai went into first with his second effort as the penultimate jumper, but Stoch once again prevailed with a leap of 132.5 meters that was just enough for his first Olympic large hill gold.

"I wanted to get a gold medal so I could really be called a legend. I still have that goal and want to keep going until I get there. I won't give up and will keep aiming for gold," said Kasai.
