アメリカのスノーボード選手ショーン・ホワイト氏は、大会3連覇をかけてソチ五輪に臨みましたが4位に終わり、メダルを逃しました。

bobbleは以前ブログでも取り上げられています。（cf. bobble - 田邉祐司ゼミ 常時英心：言葉の森から）bobbleには「（英）（帽子などに付いている装飾用）毛糸玉」（『Wisdom英和辞典(第3版)』三省堂)という語義がありますが，ここでは第二語義にある「へま」がピタリときます（ibid）。Collins English Dictionaryも参照すると，’an awkward mistake; error’という説明がありました。（Shou-VR*）
