alpha maleについてですが、「1．群れを支配する雄」「2．組織［企業］を率いる男性」「3．〔男性の〕指導者、支配者、ボス」(英辞郎 on the WEB)となります。
このalpha maleなんですが、アメリカ人の友達に日本語の「番長」の意味を教えていたときに、「英語では"alpha male"に当たる言葉かな？」と言っていたのを思い出しました。(Hatahata)
