brineは、以前にも取り上げられているように「塩水、かん水、漬け物用塩水、にがり」ですが、「海水」を指すこともあります。shrineとbrineが韻を踏み、とてもリズミカルな見出しになっています。
そういえば、本日、とある大臣が家族連れで参拝した神田キャンパス近くの神社とは違い、こっちの神社は大歓迎です。（Shou-VR*）
Shrine in the brine
Divers attach an eight-meter-long sacred rope weighing 30 kilograms to the torii of an underwater shrine 600 meters off the coast of Tateyama, Chiba Prefecture, for the New Year. Local volunteers built the shrine 18 meters below the surface in 1997 in the hope of preventing marine accidents. Many divers visit the shrine at the beginning of the New Year.
