「週刊少年ジャンプ」連載の人気漫画「黒子のバスケ」を巡る連続脅迫事件で、警視庁は渡辺博史容疑者を威力業務妨害の疑いで逮捕しました。
不気味な感じの事件でしたので、容疑者が捕まって関係者も胸をなでおろしていることでしょう。

36-yr-old man arrested over threats to stores selling popular comic

A 36-year-old man was arrested Sunday over a long-running attempt to intimidate bookstore chain operators and major convenience stores into stopping selling a popular comic series and related goods.

Hirofumi Watanabe, a resident of the city of Osaka, has admitted to sending more than 400 threatening letters over a period of a year to the retailers as well as news media in his campaign against the comic series "Kuruko no Basuke" (The Basketball which Kuroko Plays) by Tadatoshi Fujimaki, according to the Tokyo police.

Watanabe was detained when he was trying to post additional letters in Yebisu Garden Place in Shibuya Ward, Tokyo's popular shopping area, after arriving in Tokyo on Sunday.

"I lost the game," he was quoted as telling the police when he was arrested.

According to the police, Watanabe was caught by security cameras installed near several of the locations relating to his threats.

日本語でピタリととらえられないのがここで用いられているcampaignです。実はこの単語には通訳者時代から悩まされてきました。一応、辞書でみると「(社会・政治・選挙などの)運動、勧誘、遊説」（そしてもちろん「キャンペーン」）などの訳語を思い浮かべますが、ここは（では）どれもはまりません。

LDOCEには"a series of actions intended to achieve a particular result relating to politics or business, or a social improvement"という定義が与えられ、「特別の目的のため」「何らかのねらいがあって」ということが分かります。でも「犯罪運動、活動」というのはこなれないし、「破壊活動」も違う。仕方ないので、ここは罪名に立ち戻り、容疑が「威力業務妨害」なので、それから考えると「妨害行為」、「執拗な妨害」あたりに落ち着くのでしょうか。（UG）
