Microsoft's next-generation console, the Xbox One, has gone on sale in the UK.

Eager gamers queued for hours in temperatures barely above zero, all more than willing to pay £429 to get their hands on the sleek, black box of tricks.

The Xbox One, christened the "XBone" by some of Microsoft's cheekier fans, is the successor to the wildly popular Xbox 360 - itself now eight years old.
