TV show ‘Waratte li Tomo’ to end in March 2014 after three decades on air

The highly popular comedy-variety show Waratte litomo (“It’s okay to laugh”) announced that they will end the show by March 2014 after being on air for 32 years. This was confirmed by host and legendary television comedian Tamori during the October 22 broadcast of the show on Fuji TV.

The show is the holder of the Guinness World Record for the longest-running show in the world and has established a massive fan base over the years, with its hilarious interviews with celebrity guests, weird quizzes and most importantly, the audience participation part of the show that viewers always look forward to. The ending of the show was confirmed when one of the regular Thursday guests, comedian Shofukute Tsurube and J-pop boy band SMAP singer Masahiro Nakai, asked Tamori if the rumors were true that the show was ending. He then confirmed that the show will air their last episode in March of next year.
