NBC fine-tunes its 'Talent' for Season 8
The three-hour session opens with eight performers choreographed in shadow behind a projection screen and, from there, veers from an 11-year-old break dancer to a sequined, off-key married couple of "swinging seniors" to Aaralyn,6, and her brother Isaiah, 9. He plays drums, she sings — or, rather, screams — an original song about zombies. "Scary Spice is officially scared," Brown says.

今回取り上げるのはoff-keyという表現です。これは「調子っぱずれの、音程の狂った；不適切な」という意味を表します。（『ウィズダム英和辞典　第３版』三省堂）英英には次のように定義されていました。"not in the correct key. out of tune"（Collins）また、和英で「音痴」という表現を調べたところ、次のような例文が載っていました。"I can’t sing (on key)." （「私は音痴だ」）（『ジーニアス和英辞典　第２版』大修館書店）ここから、音楽のキーが外れた、合っているはoff-key、on keyと表せることがわかります。
