"The OC Season 4 Episode13"で、気になった英語表現があったので取り上げたいと思います。

Old Frank is third wheeling on a date with his son.

このthird wheelは以前にも、同じ意味で取り上げられていますので復習になりますが、third wheelで「（３人のうち他の２人にとって）じゃまな人」という意味があるようです。（『ジーニアス英和辞典　第４版』大修館）The Online Slang Dictionaryでも見てみますと、”a third person participating in an activity with a couple“、“a third person participating in an activity with two other people who are emotionally close” とありました。仲の良い２人やカップルの邪魔をする人、いわゆる「お邪魔虫」のことを指すのですね。(Nat)
