今回取り上げるのはhorseless carriageという表現です。なんとなく想像できるように、これは「《古》自動車」を意味します。（『ジーニアス英和辞典　第４版』大修館書店）COCAでcarとautomobile、horseless carriageの使用頻度を調べてみると、car：112673、automobile：4984、horseless carriage：29とありました。horseless carriageの使用頻度はcarやautomobileより圧倒的に少ないですが、一緒におさえておきたいと思います。（Jakie）
