今日も研究、研究の一日でした。iTunesで購入しているbeach bookならぬbed-side novelを「聴き」ながら眠りにつくのが、今は唯一の楽しみ。
その中で、I put her at 35.という表現が出てきました。意味はもちろん、「彼女の年齢は35歳とみた、読んた、踏んだ, etc」です。Cambridge Advanced Learner's Dictionary & Thesaurus でput sth at sthを確認してみますと、"to guess or roughly calculate that something will cost a particular amount, or that something is a particular size, number or amount"とあります。年齢のみならず価格や量などに幅広く使える表現です。以下、例文をペーストしておきます。（UG）

I'd put her at (= guess that her age is) about 35.
