cut off

(UG)

Yankees outfielder Ichiro Suzuki gets in car crash after leaving Steinbrenner Field, walks away OK

TAMPA – Ichiro Suzuki walked away unharmed from an automobile accident late Saturday afternoon. His car wasn’t so fortunate.

Shortly after he left Steinbrenner Field, Ichiro was driving his Land Rover on Dale Mabry Highway near Kennedy Boulevard in Tampa, less three miles from the ballpark. According to Tampa Police, a woman cut him off as she tried to make a left turn.

Ichiro’s car struck the woman’s vehicle, which in turn hit a third car. None of the parties suffered any injuries, though Ichiro’s car was towed from the scene.

“He did nothing wrong,” Lt. Ronald McMullen said. “The woman was given a citation for cutting him off.”
Ichiro was not scheduled to make the 2 ½-hour trip to Fort Myers Sunday for the Yankees’ game against the Red Sox, though it was unclear whether he would work out at Steinbrenner Field or be given the day off.
