昨日のDY（12/23/12）にあったサッカースペインリーグの記事の見出しです。「徐々に差をつめる」と日本語では考えますが，英語ではgapをtrimできるのですね。英英辞書でtrimを調べてみると，"to reduce a number, amount, or the size of something"（LDOCE）とあり，gapであっても数や量を減らす場合はtrimを使えることがわかりました。（Koyamamoto）
