organize

古い記事で恐縮ですが，organizeの用法が目に止まりましたので載せておきます。この動詞の第一義は「（団体などを）組織する，編成する」ですが，この文脈では「（衆議院の総選挙を）行う，実施する」という意味です。これはorganizeにある「（催しなどを）準備する」という意味からきているのでしょうか。（UG）

Noda criticized for new round of vague promises

Pressure on Japan’s prime minister Yoshihiko Noda’s shoulders is rising after a new round of promises lacking clear terms. Noda ordered new economic stimulus in an attempt to revive growth but failed to give details on the size and contents of the package.

Noda has previously promised that a national election would be organized “soon”, but it did not elaborate on a clear date. Analysts are now fearing that if growth continues to stall Japan’s economy could slide into recession.
