昨日のマリナーズ対オリオールズの試合は延長18回まで及ぶ総力戦となりましたが，最後に意地を見せたのはア・リーグ首位を狙うオリオールズでした。insurance runは直訳で「保険の得点」ですが，野球やサッカー，ホッケーなど総得点で勝敗を決めるスポーツでは，試合の勝敗を決める「決勝点」の後の加点を「ダメ押し（点）」などとよく表現しますが，今回の表現はそれにあたります。（GP）

If a team wins a hockey game by two or more goals, the goal that gives the team a one-goal lead is referred to as the "game-winning goal", while the goal that gives the team a two-goal lead (or more) is the "insurance goal".
