トヨタの高級車ブランド「レクサス」は今年発売した新型「レクサスRX」「レクサスGS」からspindle grilleと呼ばれるフロントフェイスを採用し、ブランドの新規「巻き直し」をはかるそうです。
　　　　　　　　　　　
Lexus calls the spindle grille a "resolute look" that embodies the Lexus design philosophy the company has labeled L-finesse.

The company states on its Web site: "L-finesse is the design philosophy for Lexus, unifying core messages yet expressing the identity and character of each model - while the spindle grille we see today is clearly a pure incarnation of L-finesse, it is also a starting point. spindleは「（紡績機の）紡錘、スピンドル」で、"(spinning) A rod used for spinning and then winding natural fibres (especially wool), usually consisting of a shaft and a circular whorl positioned at either the upper or lower end of the shaft when suspended vertically from the forming thread."（Weblio）と定義されます。要するに「糸巻き車」のことです。真ん中でぐぐっと中央に折れているこのデザインで、誰が見てもレクサスだという印象付けをはかる作戦です（"brand identity"）。でも、これは好き嫌いが分かれるだろうな。

以前、LS600、LS600hと試乗しましたが（ヨーロッパの車の方が一日の長ありとの印象を受けました）、今度のRX（特に450h）、GSはどうなのでしょうか。

連休初日の今日、午後にはB社からX5d（ディーゼル）試乗のお誘いが来ていますので行ってみようと思っていますが、その帰りにレクサスにもよってみようかな。（UG）
