Chiba police admit staff's Hokkaido jaunt affected probe into stalking case that turned fatal

CHIBA -- The Chiba Prefectural Police force has admitted that prioritizing a staff leisure trip over a stalking case affected their investigations into the case, which resulted in a double murder.
In a report released on April 23, the prefectural police headquarters revealed the results of their re-examination of how the Narashino Police Station failed to prevent the murder after postponing the acceptance of a stalking complaint right before a station staff trip to Hokkaido. The stalker suspect eventually killed his target's mother and grandmother in Saikai, Nagasaki Prefecture.
