Mike Maddux jokes that Godzilla movies, 'Japanese for Dummies' will help talks with Yu Darvish

Rangers pitching coach Mike Maddux joined Galloway and Company on KESN-FM 103.3 to talk about the upcoming season, and the topic of Yu Darvish came up. As difficult as it will be to handle the increased media presence, Maddux said Texas is a team that can handle it.

"As far as Yu coming in the clubhouse, he's just going to be one of the guys," Maddux said. "That's one of the greatest things about our team is the way Wash's personality has infiltrated the clubhouse. Everybody's family down here. We all got one another's back. And Yu's gonna come in. He's just going to be another one of the guys. We're going to support him every day so that he can concentrate on baseball and we'll take care of the media stuff when we're done with our work."

When asked if he has tried to learn some Japanese words over the off-season, he revealed his tips to picking up the language.

"I got that book Japanese for Dummies, man," Maddux joked. "And I started to watch a lot of Godzilla movies and tried to pick it up there."
