he student is suspected of having regularly used the NTT Docomo mobile phone that was used to upload the exam questions onto the Yahoo Chiebukuro (Yahoo pearls of wisdom) bulletin board. The mother of the student who lives in Yamagata Prefecture is registered as the owner of the mobile phone.

3つの記事ではすべて「知恵袋」をpearls of wisdomと表現しています。pearlには「真珠」という意味の他に「貴重な［美しい］もの；精粋, 精華, 典型」（『プログレッシブ英和中辞典』小学館）という意味があり，pearls of wisdomは「貴重な忠告，金言」（『リーダーズ英和辞典』第2版，研究社）という意味でしばしば用いられます。
ただし，気をつけなくてはならないのが，このpearls of wisdom（あるいはa pearl of wisdom）は，時に「皮肉」の意味で用いられることがあるということです。『スーパーアンカー英和辞典』（第4版，学研教育出版）には，「ばかげていると思っているが，皮肉をこめて美化した表現」とあり，『アドバンストフェイバリット英和辞典』（東京書籍）には「（しばしば皮肉で）Thank you for your pearl of wisdom.貴重な助言をどうも。」という例文が挙げられていました。今回「ヤフー知恵袋」に寄せられた回答も玉石混交（a mixture of chaff and grain）であったようですし，pearls of wisdomには注意しなくてはいけないですね。（院生 小山本）
