昨日（12/27/10），研究室では大学院の補講が行われ，幸運にも参加させていただきました。そこで授業の合間の息抜きとして田邉先生がThe New Christy MistrelのTodayという曲を紹介してくださったのですが，これは12/24放送の『クリスマスの約束　2010』という番組で小田和正が取り上げて紹介していたようです。以下が曲の歌詞となります。

この曲のメッセージは一言で言うと，seize the day（carpe diem）です。これは歌詞のToday is my moment and now is my storyという部分に集約されています。そして，忘れてはならないのが歌の題名であるTodayです。昔，todayはto-dayと表記されていました。そう，todayというのはその日（day）に向かう（to）という意味なのですね。
