今回の注目する点は，academicです。一般的に知られている意味は「学問的な」ですが，上記の文脈には合いません。実は，この単語には「（議論などが）空論の，現実離れした」という語義があります。よってここでは，「机上の空論の何物でもない」のように解釈できると考えられます。
