以前，採り上げたJT onlineにあった映画「ガフールの伝説」（原題Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga'Hoole）のレビュー記事から，英語表現を拾います。
A months back I was at a screening when the first preview for this fall's big animated fantasy, "Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga'Hoole," was shown. With its portentous baritone narration ("Legend tells of a band of warriors . . . "), heroic attempts to lip-synch bird beaks to human dialogue, fist-pumping scenes of slow-motion battle between strangely synthetic-looking owls (wearing helmets, no less), all set to an overdone emo anthem by 30 Seconds To Mars, it looked like this was going to be "300" with birds, the best genre parody since "Team America."
heroの形容詞形であるheroicですが，「英雄［勇士］たちの，勇者にふさわしい」という意味の他に「〈手段などが〉大胆な」という意味があります（『プログレッシブ英和中辞典』小学館）。ここでは，フクロウのくちばしの動きに台詞をかぶせるという試みをheroic attempts（大胆な試み）としています。（院生 小山本）
