「激励処置は経済にマイナスに影響を与え得る」
stimulusは「刺激」のほかに「激励，鼓舞，激励・励みになるもの」という意味があります（『ジーニアス英和辞典』第4版，大修館書店）。政府が始めた「エコカー減税制度」は経済回復と環境問題の解決策としての激励だったようですが，それがマイナス効果になり得ると報じています。

「駆け込みでくる消費者」
last-minuteは「最後の瞬間の，どたん場の，ぎりぎりの時間の」とあります（『ジーニアス英和辞典』第4版，大修館書店）。last-minute shoppersで「閉店間際の買い物客」という表現が紹介されています。「エコカー減税」制度が終わるぎりぎりのときに買い物客が来るだろうという一文になっているのが分かりますね。

「経済を支えるのに一役買う」
buttressはformal to support a system, idea, argument etc, especially by providing moneyと定義付けられています（LDOCE）。

「売り上げがさらに悪くなる引き金となってしまう」
学校の教科書で読むような物語とは違って，英語での経済のニュースだったので読み解くのに時間がかかりました。英語学習とこのような経済の事も並行して勉強していく必要があると実感しました。また田邉先生からのブログ初ご指名に緊張しましたが，今後も頑張ります。（ゼミ生Shohei）
