宇多田ヒカルの無期限休養宣言については小山本くんあたりが食い付くかなと思っていましたが，他のものへ触手が動いたようなので，仕方なく。
休養はもちろんbreak。でもギョーカイ人はやはりhiatusでしょう。この表現は授業でも取り上げられたように，芸術活動などの休みから今はbreakの代わりに使われるようになった言い回しです。英語の音声学でも母音連続という意味で使用されます（例：coopなどのoo間の微妙な間）。
でもここはそれよりも，彼女の最後のブログ発言の英訳（？）; I've become more of an adult.という英語に引かれます。シンプルだけど彼女の気持ちをピタッと言い表していると思います。お上手！（UG）
Hikaru Utada to go on indefinite music hiatus to mature as person
Popular singer Hikaru Utada, known by the stage name "Utada" in the United States and Europe, announced on her blog on Aug. 9 that she will take an indefinite break from music starting next year.
She wrote: "I want to take a break from the glitzy life of an artist and focus on life as a person."
"In order to advance as an artist, I have to grow as a person first."
"It could be two years or five years, I don't know. I'll come back after I've become more of an adult."
According to the announcement, Utada will continue being active as a music artist through the rest of this year.
